Not much to say… Messing around with Gimp.

1-7-10….

Today sucked…. Picked up my car from the garage, paid $276 for a new alternator only to break a spring on the way home. Back to the garage it goes.
Anyway, needless to say, I am not in the most creative of moods. In fact just the opposite. For today’s design I just followed this tutorial for Gimp. I did a couple of things differently, and added my logo:

1-5 & 1-6…..

First of all, I missed a day. My hours at work changed and I am now working 10 hours a day starting at 5am (ugghhh). Anyway yesterday I finished my design(s)for the day, but I was so f-ing tired that I didn’t feel like uploading/posting. So, today I have two posts, yesterday’s and tonight’s.

On with the show! :
It was suggested by my friend Tom from vanmungo.com that I try to design a logo for Man Ray. At first I thought he meant the club Manray in Cambridge back in the 90′s (I think). I didn’t know a lot about the club other than it was frequented by bondage fans and transvestites. However, he meant Man Ray (aka. Emmanuel Radnitzky) the artist/photographer. I was unfamiliar with him, but but did a little (and I mean little) research and came up with this logo:

When I was still under the impression that Tom was talking about Manray the nightclub I came up with a couple of logos:

Today’s design is nothing special. I’m not feeling well today, and i am wicked tired. I did manage to come up with something though. I am not really pleased with the way it came out. I designed in Gimp. I have done a lot of similar things in the past with better results, but for some reason I just wasn’t have a good day today:

Looking ahead:
Since there are only 28 days in February, I am thinking about the alphabet. One letter per day, and either numbers, or punctuation on the other two days. or, maybe something like this , I am not sure yet.

…Something every day?

So, I got pretty lazy the 2nd half of last year. I fell in to a deep slump that I am still trying to climb out of. I had a severe lack of motivation. This can not continue!
As part of an effort to improve my life i have decided to take part in this design something everyday challenge, basically I will create something every day, and post it.
I will post the images here as well my flikr. I will post links on twitter, facebook, and myspace.
So, here are my first two of the year.

Oh yeah… I have a blog.

So as anticipated I forgot I had a blog. I have been busy as hell over the past few weeks trying to get my portfolio together, get my website built and about 50 other things.
I have got quite a bit of work done though. Here are some new things:

Stickers Stickers Stickers!!!

I love stickers… I have built up a pretty good collection, but I think I need more.
A few years ago I was trading with other artists from around the world. I think I’m going to start doing that again.
If you want some of my stickers let me know… I would be happy to send you some. I would love it if you would stick them up around your city, take some pics of them and send me the pics.

New Stuff

I’ve been thinking about doing some sneakers for a while… I could be happier with the results but, fuck it. I had fun doing these and will probably do more.
Also:
This was an assignmet for school. The objective was to gather a bunch of black on white text and white on black text, cut and/or rip it into pieces and then make a collage.

I like the way it turned out and will probably do more of these too.

UGGGGG….

So here it is. I guess if I’m going to be an artist I need to have a blog. It seems that any respectable artist maintains a blog, so I guess I should follow along… I don’t want to be un-cool. Besides, I love to shoot my mouth off and I guess this is a perfect way to do that. I can also “showcase” my artwork here.

Well here we go. The first thing I will blog about is the word BLOG… It sucks. I don’t like to use it. When I say, or even write the word I feel like a fool.
